A total of six businesses based in Haimen were among the technology-based small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to make it onto a list released by the Science and Technology Department of Jiangsu on April 17.

To be included on the list, tech-based SMEs must meet the following requirements:

1. The total number of employees cannot be more than 500, and annual sales and total assets cannot be more than 200 million yuan ($29.83 million).

2. Products and services provided by the enterprises must not be prohibited or restricted by the state.

3. The company must not have experienced any major safety issues, quality lapses, serious environmental violations, or serious incidents of scientific research dishonesty, and it must not have been included on any list of business anomalies or any list of seriously illegal or untrustworthy enterprises.

SMEs that meet the above criteria can enjoy preferential policies that increase R&D funding from 50 to 75 percent. They will also receive priority support for technology projects, innovation platforms, venture capital, technology finance, and incubation services.
