Traditional tiger shoes welcome Spring Festival
Yang Heying teaches her neighbors to make tiger-head shoes at a community center in Nantong, East China’s Jiangsu province, on Jan 14. Yang, now in her 60s, inherited the traditional techniques from her mother when she was 22 years old. The shoes, with their bright colors and intricate patterns, are a Chinese New Year tradition, symbolizing that a child will become robust and dynamic –– like a tiger. [Photo/IC]
