A traffic policeman smiles as he receives a container of laba porridge from a volunteer in Haian, Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, on Jan 13. Laba porridge is usually made with eight kinds of ingredients, but mainly consists of peanuts and grains. It is traditionally served during Laba Festival, which falls on the eighth day of the 12th lunar month. Eating the porridge is part of a traditional ritual and is said to bring a good harvest.
