Guqin concert held at Nantong Normal College
A group of guqin (seven-stringed Chinese zither) masters of the Mei'an style held a guqin concert at the new campus of Nantong Normal College, Tongzhou district, Nantong, Jiangsu province on Dec 12.
The masters performed some of the classic masterpieces of Mei'an style, including Pingsha Luoyan and Guanshanyue.
Xu Yi, head of Nantong Mei'an guqin club, is a descendant of Xu Lisun, founder of the Mei'an style.

Xu Lisun was a music teacher at Nantong Normal College in the early 1900s. "Bringing guqin back to the school is a perfect way to commemorate the ancestors and inheritors of the traditional culture," said Xu Yi.
Guqin and its music were proclaimed as an UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2003.
