NETDA enterprises win provincial awards

A company in the Nantong Economic and Technological Development Area (NETDA) in East China's Jiangsu province has won a Jiangsu Patent Golden Award, the Jiangsu Provincial People's Government announced on Feb 17. 

The company, Zhongtian Technology Submarine Cable Co Ltd, was conferred the honor for its submarine cable manufacturing technology. The technology has broken the monopoly held by foreign enterprises and the cable has been used in fields such as offshore wind power and offshore oil and gas. 

The company, which is expected to generate 15 billion yuan ($2.17 billion) in economic returns, will play a significant role in bolstering China's green energy industry, said local authorities. 

In addition, NETDA-based Nantong Richen Bioengineering Co Ltd won a Jiangsu Patent Excellent Award for its breakthroughs in producing γ-aminobutyric acid products. 

These achievements were made possible with the help of NETDA authorities who provided assistance with creating high-value patents. The number of effective invention patents in the area amounted to 2,505 in 2022, a year-on-year increase of 23.2 percent. 

NETDA is building a demonstration zone for intellectual property protection as part of efforts to optimize the business environment and advance high-quality development.
