NETDA firms named as municipal industrial design centers

Four companies resident in the Nantong Economic & Technological Development Area or NETDA – located in Nantong city in East China's Jiangsu province – were recently named as Nantong municipal industrial design centers, according to local media reports on Nov 5.

The companies are Jiangsu Huihuan Environmental Science & Technology Co Ltd, Nantong Sunshine Graphite Equipment Technology Co Ltd, Jiangsu Leader Electronic Information Technology Co Ltd and Jiangsu Parktech Equipment Co Ltd.

The term refers to industrial design and R&D institutions with strong design innovations and advanced technology in Nantong. They include industrial design departments and design enterprises set up in the development zone.  

Criteria for industrial enterprise applications

The main business revenue in the previous year shall not be less than 20 million yuan ($3.13 million) – with a high proportion of investments in R&D, independent brands and intellectual property or IP rights, sound industrial design and research conditions and related hardware and software support facilities. In addition, the company should have  no less than 10 industrial design and related professionals and  the amount of special funds for industrial design innovation activities shall not be less than 2 million yuan per year.  

Criteria for design enterprise applications

The company shall be established for more than two years, with the industrial design service as its main business and its design revenue shall account for no less than 50 percent of the total annual operating income. The company should possess the ability to independently undertake industrial design tasks in related industries and provide industrial design services and systems design consulting services. In addition, the amount of special funds for industrial design innovation activities shall not be less than 500,000 yuan per year.
