NETDA focuses on tech-savvy light source, module research

The new generation of information technology is one of the key emerging industries in the Nantong Economic & Technological Development Area – located in Nantong city, in East China's Jiangsu province – according to NETDA officials.

They said NETDA's Luohuaxin display technology development project, related to mini and micro LEDs, officially started on Jan 11 and the projected annual sales from production after the first phase is completed will top 1 billion yuan ($154 million).

This new display technology can reduce the traditional LED design structure to the micron scale. It can achieve high brightness, low energy consumption, high resolution and a high saturation display effect.

According to the NETDA officials, after the manufacturing plant is fully launched in 2022, it will provide more than 400 high-end jobs, achieve annual sales revenue of more than 1 billion yuan and annual profit of more than 200 million yuan.

They said it will be of great significance for accelerating the development of ultra-high-definition video industry in the NETDA and for promoting the overall strength of the new generation of the information technology industry.
