As of March 31, the first phase of Jiangsu's largest fishery-solar project in Qidong has generated 93.5 million kWh of electricity in its first full quarter after reaching full-capacity grid connection, enough to meet the annual power needs of around 180,000 residents and providing strong momentum for the region's green energy transition.

Located on about 5,850 mu (390 hectares) of intertidal flats west of Lyusi Fishing Port, the project comprises 121 grid-connected photovoltaic units. It adopts an innovative "power generation above water, aquaculture below water" model, enabling the coordinated development of clean energy and fisheries without changing the original use of the sea area.

Once fully operational, the project is expected to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 490,000 metric tons annually. The shading effect of the solar arrays helps curb excessive algae growth, improving water quality and creating more stable conditions for aquaculture.

By integrating ecological protection with industrial development, the project achieves both environmental and economic benefits, offering a replicable model for sustainable coastal development.
