The 2026 Qidong Marathon concluded on March 29, drawing runners from across China and abroad to a race that combined athletic challenge with stunning coastal views, boosting local tourism and consumption.
Following route optimization this year, runners were able to take in 35 kilometers of Qidong's coastline during the race, taking in sea breezes and immersive natural scenery along the way.

The event's finisher medal also stood out as a memorable highlight. Designed in the shape of a seashell and featuring a translucent effect, the medal reveals delicate tidal patterns when held up to the light.
"Running along the sea with the ocean breeze beside me was an amazing experience. Qidong is a truly beautiful city," said Duc Tu Nguyen, a runner from Norway who visited Qidong for the first time.

In addition to continuing its much-talked-about race pack, which featured local ribbonfish, this year's marathon further expanded its consumer-friendly offerings by partnering with local restaurants, major supermarkets, hotels and scenic attractions.
Together, they launched an exclusive runner discount package worth 1.35 million yuan ($196,000), covering time-honored local brands and popular seafood eateries.
The marathon also delivered a noticeable boost to the local hospitality sector. In the days leading up to the event, hotel and homestay bookings in the urban area and coastal scenic spots rose significantly. According to local businesses, reservations increased by more than 35 percent compared with normal periods, with the vast majority of guests coming from outside the city.
