Models of two flagship dredging vessels from Qidong, Nantong, are drawing attention at the ongoing "Made in China" achievements exhibition of the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25) at the National Museum of China, showcasing the city's strength in marine engineering and shipbuilding.
The exhibits focus on the Tian Kun Hao and the Tong Jun dredger, both built by Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industries Qidong Offshore Engineering.
Tian Kun Hao is the largest and most advanced self-propelled cutter suction dredger in Asia and among the most advanced worldwide. From deep-sea dredging to island and reef construction, the vessel stands as a benchmark of Qidong's shipbuilding capabilities and technological strength.
Tong Jun, a new-generation ultra-large intelligent dredging vessel, was launched late last year. The vessel boasts the largest hopper capacity in Asia, reaching up to 35,000 cubic meters.
Combining high-efficiency dredging, reliable sediment transport and strong deep-water operational capabilities, Tong Jun can be widely applied in port and waterway dredging, land reclamation, coastal maintenance, offshore sand extraction, and deep-sea trench excavation and backfilling.
