The Nantong delegation to the fifth session of the 14th Jiangsu Provincial People's Congress convened in Nanjing on Feb 4 for a plenary meeting and group discussions.
The focus was on ongoing review of the government work report and scrutinizing drafts, including the outline of the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-30).
Delegate Ni Chunqing said that the draft outline of the 15th Five-Year Plan aligns with national strategic objectives while being tailored to Jiangsu's specific development stage. It emphasizes the province's unique advantages, making it highly practical.
Jiangsu, a major province for the private economy, has consistently optimized its business environment in recent years. Delegate Tao Xiaodong emphasized the importance of removing hidden barriers in the public service sector as a key measure to support the healthy development of the private economy. He suggested enhancing coordination of policies related to private agricultural enterprises and encouraging their active participation in projects such as agricultural social services.
The quality and safety of agricultural products are vital to food safety and fundamental to building modern agriculture. As a delegate from the agricultural frontline, Zhao Yun stressed the need for an unwavering commitment to an ecology-first, green development path. This includes establishing a comprehensive quality traceability system from field to table to ensure that rice, wheat, and other products are green, safe, and high-quality.
Delegate Zhang Xin suggested increasing policy support for the development of smart logistics in rural areas, promoting the use of new technologies such as unmanned delivery and intelligent sorting to ensure that agricultural products can be safely and efficiently delivered from the fields to the dining table.
