Major projects are serving as a powerful engine for high-quality economic and social development in Jiangsu. The province recently released its list of large-scale projects for 2026, with Qidong securing 12, ranking first among all cities in Nantong.

The selections stand out for their strong focus on emerging sectors and high-quality development. They are involved in heavy industry intelligent manufacturing, semiconductor components, automotive-grade electronic connectors, and high-end offshore equipment manufacturing.

With a large investment scale, strong technological content, and significant spillover effects, these projects are set to play a dual role: stabilizing growth in the near term while injecting fresh momentum into Qidong's industrial upgrading and economic transformation over the longer run.

Investment progress in 2025 also underscores the city's strong execution capacity.

Provincial-level major projects in Qidong clocked a total investment of 7.01 billion yuan ($1 billion), exceeding the annual plan by 16.9 percentage points. Meanwhile, Nantong municipal-level major projects reached 16.74 billion yuan in completed investment, surpassing the yearly target by 4.8 percentage points.
