Dasheng Group in Nantong, Jiangsu province opened China's first carbon-neutral smart spinnery on Oct 18. This breakthrough in the textile industry coincided with the company's 130th anniversary.

Thanks to the intelligent transformation, each 10,000 spindles now requires fewer than eight workers, with production efficiency increased by more than 30 percent and energy consumption per unit dropped by over 20 percent.

Gu Xuefeng, the project's technical director, said that the factory has established a real-time carbon monitoring system covering the entire process.

He also said that the combination of an enterprise resource planning system and a manufacturing execution system automatically sets a carbon quota for every order.

Yan Yan, vice-president of China National Textile and Apparel Council, said that Dasheng's carbon-neutral smart spinnery has built a complete system for zero-carbon development in both technology and management, which provides a replicable model for the industry's green transformation.

Cai Yun, chairman of Wuxi No 1 Cotton Mill Textile Group, praised Dasheng's innovation as a pioneer in achieving the industry's green transformation, which strengthened the nation's competitiveness in global trade.

The predecessor of Dasheng Group was Dasheng Spinning Mill, founded in 1895. Over the past 130 years, from pioneering the national textile industry to establishing the country's first carbon-neutral factory, Dasheng has consistently upheld the spirit of "daring to be the first in the world", leading innovation and transformation in the industry.
