The agreements for five major projects in the semiconductor sector were signed in Qidong on Sept 9, including a production line dedicated to integrated circuit packaging and housing, a manufacturing facility for front-end semiconductor metrology equipment, an electronic components manufacturing plant, an electronic materials production facility, and a semiconductor radio frequency matcher along with a power supply production base.

These initiatives represent a substantial advancement in the region's semiconductor capabilities and infrastructure development.

Representatives of the investors noted that Qidong has unique geographical advantages, a comprehensive industrial ecosystem, and a favorable business environment. These factors, combined with the government's unwavering support for the real economy and dedicated services tailored to manufacturers, have bolstered their confidence in expanding their investment commitments. They also assured their commitment to accelerate preparatory activities to facilitate early production and operational readiness.

In recent years, Qidong has prioritized the development of the electronic information and semiconductor industries to capitalize on emerging growth opportunities. The city has successfully attracted leading enterprises, such as Jiejie Microelectronics, which operate across a diverse range of fields including semiconductor equipment and materials, component manufacturing, packaging and testing, communications, and instrumentation.

The Qidong Economic Development Zone functions as the core hub for this sector in the region. It has planned a dedicated 10.3-square-kilometer pan-semiconductor starting zone to attract investment and foster innovation. The zone has expanded its electronic information industry area to cover a total of 37.53 square kilometers, reinforcing its position as a key player in the industry's development.
