The Liberty Harvest, a cargo vessel loaded with five complete sets of large-scale wind power equipment, recently departed from the heavy cargo terminal at the East Port Area of Lyusi Port in Qidong, bound for Ho Chi Minh Port in Vietnam. This marks the successful completion of the terminal's first full-vessel transshipment and export operation of entire wind power systems.
The shipment, comprising key components such as nacelles, hubs, and 76-meter-long blades, totaled an impressive 18,000 cubic meters. Given the oversized dimensions, high value, and technical challenges of handling such special cargo, the terminal implemented a range of innovations. These included optimized scheduling of cargo arrivals, advanced loading and unloading procedures, precise vessel stowage planning, and secure offshore lashing to ensure the safety and stability of the shipment.
The Lyusi Port heavy cargo terminal features a 50,000-metric-ton general berth with a 273-meter quay line and supporting infrastructure. It has a designed annual throughput capacity of 2.9 million tons.
The terminal will continue to leverage its strategic location and deepwater advantages, strengthen its capabilities in handling heavy and oversized cargo, and pursue innovations in process, efficiency, and service models.
