Recently, two conjoined lotus flowers bloomed in the Qixiu Lotus Pond within the Haohe River Scenic Area in Nantong, Jiangsu province.

The red and white petals hang gracefully, contrasted by the shimmering water droplets on the emerald lotus leaves, drawing many photography enthusiasts and visitors to observe this summer's natural spectacle.

In the past few years, only one conjoined lotus has been seen in the lotus pond. The rare simultaneous blooming of two this year is notable, as conjoined lotus is an uncommon variation often regarded as auspicious. Their appearance reflects ongoing environmental improvements in the Haohe River.

The Haohe River Scenic Area has taken various actions, including dredging, pollution control, and restoring aquatic plants, to enhance water quality. As a result, the river water has become much clearer, and the dissolved oxygen levels have consistently increased, providing a healthy environment for aquatic life like lotus flowers and fish.
