Rugao Special Education School recently received an honorary certificate from the IAP Louvre International Art Exhibition, recognizing the outstanding participation of its students and teachers. The exhibition, held earlier this year at the Louvre Museum in Paris, featured over 1,000 artworks from 11 countries and regions around the world.
Among the selected pieces were 18 exceptional works created by teachers and students suffering from hearing loss at Rugao Special Education School. These works stood out for their unique artistic expression and the powerful stories they conveyed, transcending language barriers.
Mao Chaolin, vice-chairman of the Rugao Artists Association and art teacher at the school, played a key role in guiding the students. Mao himself experienced hearing loss at a young age due to a high fever and subsequent treatment.
According to Mao, the invitation to participate in the IAP Louvre International Art Exhibition came in early January. From more than 20 original works, he and his students carefully selected 18 pieces, all of which ended up being included in the show. These creations reflect not only their artistic talent but also their resilience and determination to express themselves through visual art.
