Haimen's e-sports industry takes major leap
The Haimen E-sports Center commenced operations on the afternoon of June 10, marking a new stage in Haimen's e-sports industry development.
Covering 65,000 square meters, the center is a comprehensive platform integrating tournament hosting, training facilities, industrial incubation, and cultural experiences.
Its competition venue spans nearly 3,000 square meters and includes 1,200 seats, serving as a Tencent-certified Class-A e-sports arena—the first of its tier located outside a first-tier city within the KPL (Honor of Kings Professional League) alliance.
As a vital component of the cultural sector, the e-sports industry now connects younger generations, drives technological innovation, and promotes digital cultural consumption. In February 2025, the International Olympic Committee announced the inaugural Olympic e-sports games would be held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, in 2027, signifying e-sports' formal inclusion in the Olympic framework.
Seizing this opportunity, Haimen has formulated a plan to develop the e-sports industry and successfully attracted Hero Jiujing—a five-time KPL champion team—superpowering the region's e-sports sector.
In addition to hosting KPL regular seasons, the center will feature diverse international and domestic tournaments, aiming to organize over 300 e-sports events annually. This initiative is expected to attract enthusiasts, talent, and related industries, fostering integrated growth across commercial, cultural, sports, tourism, and health industries.
