Rudong sees tourism boom over May Day holiday

Rudong county experienced a robust tourism surge during the May Day holiday, with its monitored A-level scenic spots, key villages, night-time cultural and tourism zones, and cultural venues receiving a total of 528,600 visitors, a year-on-year increase of 17.99 percent. Tourism-related spending reached 280.2 million yuan ($38.68 million), up 24.5 percent.
A variety of cultural and tourism events lit up major destinations, including the Xiaoyangkou Tourism Resort, Bencha Ancient Town, and popular commercial areas.
Xiaoyangkou Tourism Resort introduced a diverse range of experiences, from seaside discos and helicopter tours to hot air balloon rides. The resort welcomed a total of 170,300 visitors over the five-day holiday.
Bencha Ancient Town drew 189,200 visitors with its acrobatic performances, Suzhou storytelling, Chinese-style music shows, and floating flower boats, while a 3,000-square-meter Doraemon-themed park added some extra fun for children.
In Caobu town, immersive rural experiences such as fruit and vegetable picking, fishing, and parent-child activities offered a taste of countryside charm. The town welcomed around 2,000 visitors daily, with average daily sales surpassing 50,000 yuan.
The May Day holiday underscored Rudong's growing appeal as a vibrant destination for culture, leisure, and rural tourism.
