Qidong witnessed a surge in tourism and consumption during the May Day holiday, as cultural and tourism activities across the city drew large crowds. According to official statistics, the city's A-level scenic spots, key villages, and cultural venues received a total of 629,900 visits, generating 315 million yuan ($43.47 million) in tourism revenue, up 21.2 percent and 20.7 percent year-on-year, respectively.

Among the standout attractions were Golden Beach and Tang World, both ranking among the top 10 most-visited destinations in Nantong. From May 3 to 4, a spectacular show featuring 100,000 fireworks and 2,000 drones lit up the skies over the bay, delighting tens of thousands of spectators.

Qidong's key commercial enterprises also saw strong performance, with total sales exceeding 50 million yuan, an 18.6-percent increase from the same period last year.

As of May 5, local box office revenue had surpassed 720,000 yuan, while cultural venues such as the Qidong Museum and Cultural Center were packed with visitors. The museum's hands-on fan-making workshop proved especially popular, attracting around 4,000 participants over the holiday period.

These results reflect the growing vitality of Qidong's cultural and tourism sectors and the city's expanding holiday economy.
