In the vast offshore waters near Qidong, towering wind turbines stand tall against the wind, tirelessly converting ocean breezes into green electricity for thousands of households.

In the first quarter of this year, Qidong's offshore wind farms generated a total of 603 million kilowatt-hours of electricity—an average of over 6.75 million kWh per day. This daily output is enough to meet the monthly electricity needs of 35,800 households.

The 603 million kWh of clean energy produced has reduced standard coal consumption by an estimated 190,000 metric tons and carbon dioxide emissions by an estimated 499,000 metric tons. These figures highlight the significant role offshore wind plays in optimizing Qidong's energy structure and advancing its sustainability goals.

Capitalizing on its abundant coastal wind resources, Qidong has developed three offshore wind farms with a total of 134 turbines and an installed capacity of 800,000 kilowatts. The infrastructure also includes three 220kV offshore booster stations and one onshore centralized control center. The furthest wind farm is located about 40 nautical miles from the shore.

As Qidong continues to expand its renewable energy portfolio, offshore wind is set to play an increasingly important role in driving green growth and energy transformation in the region.
