Grassroots officials in Qidong, Nantong, are embracing livestreaming to promote local agricultural products, injecting new energy into rural vitalization efforts.

According to Chen Jinzhou, deputy director of the city's rural vitalization bureau, in 2024, five local enterprises achieved over 1 million yuan ($137,034.27) in online sales of primary agricultural products, with the city's total online sales exceeding 790 million yuan.

Chen Lineng, Party secretary of Zhenxing village in Beixin town, has hosted over 30 livestream sessions since 2023, selling strawberries, melons, reeds, eggs, and duck eggs. His efforts have boosted both collective village income and residents' earnings, with the village collective alone seeing an increase of over 100,000 yuan.

"Compared to traditional sales methods, livestreaming builds a direct bridge between agricultural producers and consumers, reducing intermediate costs and improving efficiency and profits," said Zhou Bing, Party secretary of Xinyang village in Jinhai town.

On April 1, a three-day training session about agricultural e-commerce opened at the municipal bureau of agriculture and rural affairs. A total of 190 participants, including family farm owners, cooperative leaders, and village officials, attended the training. Trainees were taught basic and practical e-commerce skills, professional ethics, and related laws.
