Nantong in Jiangsu province experienced a 7.8 percent year-on-year increase in electricity generated by local offshore wind farms in the first seven months of this year, according to the Nantong municipal bureau of maritime safety.

From January to July, the offshore wind farms in Nantong generated 11.4 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity.

Cutting-edge offshore wind power technology generates renewable energy that is clean and environmentally-friendly, producing zero carbon emissions. The Nantong coast is home to a steady and consistent supply of wind, making it an ideal place for exploring and using this new energy source.

The development of offshore wind farms in Nantong commenced in 2009, when construction of the world's first intertidal offshore wind farm began. After 15 years of experiments and exploration, Nantong has established 23 offshore wind farms covering 1,200 square kilometers, with the farthest located 45 nautical miles away from the coast.
