Qidong athlete to compete in Paris Paralympics

The 17th Paralympic Games are scheduled in Paris from Aug 28 to Sept 8, with Qian Wangwei from Qidong, Nantong, to compete in four cycling events.
Born with brain paralysis, which affects her limbs but not her intellect, Qian has shown remarkable resilience and talent. She joined the national cycling team in 2018. She made headlines on Aug 25, 2021, when she set a new world record in the C1 category by completing the 3,000-meter individual pursuit at the Tokyo Paralympics in 4:31.476.
In 2023, Qian won three gold medals at the Asian Para Games. She triumphed in the women's individual C1-3 3,000-meter pursuit, the C1-3 500-meter time trial, and the C1-3 road cycling time trial.
As Qian prepares for the Paris Paralympics, her impressive track record and determination continue to inspire, showcasing the spirit and dedication of para-athletes worldwide.
