Major order secured by Nantong shipbuilder

Jiangsu Ocean Shipping Co Ltd and Nantong Cosco KHI Ship Engineering Co Ltd recently signed a strategic cooperation agreement to build two 82,000-metric-ton intelligent bulk carriers.

This 82,000-ton bulk carriers mark Cosco KHI Ship Engineering's first order for Kamsarmax-type bulk carriers from Jiangsu Ocean Shipping.

The new 82,000-ton bulk carriers are upgrades from Nantong Cosco KHI's existing high-performing vessels, featuring an optimized hull design, increased cargo capacity, and enhanced energy efficiency. They are equipped with selective catalytic red systems and energy-saving devices for the main engine and generators to meet Tier Three emission requirements. Additionally, the vessels come with the company's independently-developed energy management system, boosting their economic efficiency.

Since 2002, Jiangsu Ocean Shipping and Nantong Cosco KHI Ship Engineering have been collaborating closely, constructing a total of 23 bulk carriers. Their partnership has been instrumental in enhancing Jiangsu Ocean Shipping's fleet structure and boosting its capacity.

Nantong Cosco KHI Ship Engineering is a large Sino-foreign joint venture shipbuilding enterprise established by China Cosco Shipping Corporation Ltd and Japan's Kawasaki Heavy Industries.

The company has maintained top-notch economic and technical indicators in terms of labor productivity, steel utilization, energy consumption, and shipbuilding efficiency, setting records in China's shipbuilding industry and rivaling major shipyards in Japan and South Korea. It has become a key strategic partner for leading international shipping companies.
