4 athletes from Nantong to compete in Paris Olympics

Four athletes from Nantong in East China's Jiangsu province have joined Team China and will compete at the Paris Olympic Games from July 26 to Aug 11.

They are badminton player Shi Yuqi, gymnast Sun Wei, women's epee fencer Xu Nuo, and women's volleyball player Wu Mengjie.

Shi, who joined the Chinese national youth badminton team in 2012, has clinched titles such as the men's singles championship at the India Open, the French Badminton Open, the Thomas Cup, and the Indonesia Open.

Sun, who joined the national team in 2014, made his Olympic debut in Tokyo, where he helped the Chinese men's gymnastics team secure a bronze medal.

Xu won the women's epee team championship for China at the 31st World University Summer Games in 2022. She claimed a bronze medal at the Hangzhou Asian Games in the women's team epee event, and in 2024, she emerged victorious in the women's epee individual event in the second leg of the National Fencing Championships.

Wu won a gold medal with the Chinese women's volleyball team at the Hangzhou Asian Games in October 2023. She has given remarkable performances in various international competitions, including Olympic qualifiers and the 2024 National Women's Volleyball League. She has become a key player in the position of main attacker for the Chinese women's volleyball team.
