Qidong, renowned as "China's No 1 city for electric tools" and the "export base for electric tools in Jiangsu province", has achieved significant growth in exports this year. From January to April, the export value of electric tools from Qidong reached nearly 500 million yuan ($68.91 million), marking a 14 percent year-on-year increase.

A leading player in this industry is Jiangsu Dongcheng Electric Tools, whose overseas marketing network spans over 60 countries in Southeast Asia, the Middle East, North Africa, and Latin America. Shen Yunyun, the manager of Dongcheng's overseas marketing department, highlighted the company's strategic shift towards the burgeoning cross-border e-commerce sector.

To support the company's expansion, Qidong Customs has collaborated with local government departments to offer one-stop services. This includes guiding the company through the process of perfecting their application documents and enabling their overseas warehouses to pass customs registration. In 2023, Dongcheng's overseas sales accounted for 9.62 percent of its total sales and increased by 45.3 percent year-on-year.

With the increasing global demand for battery-powered tools, companies such as Dongcheng are actively developing lithium battery products. However, they face challenges related to export procedures and foreign standards. To address these issues, Qidong Customs has been guiding companies to improve lithium battery labeling and packaging standards, thus ensuring safe transportation.

Furthermore, Qidong Customs is helping companies' key products obtain origin qualification, enhancing their price competitiveness in the market.
