The low-altitude economy is gaining momentum in Nantong, Jiangsu province. As one of the representative new quality productive forces, the low-altitude economy has indeed become a focal point of attention throughout China this year.

Low-altitude economy refers to commercial aviation activities conducted by manned or unmanned vehicles operating below 1,000 meters.

The size of China's low-altitude economy exceeded 500 billion yuan ($69.27 billion) in 2023 and is expected to reach 2 trillion yuan by 2030.

Nantong, in recent years, has attracted a group of professionals and representative businesses focused on the low-altitude economy.

Strong development in this sector is not possible without advanced aircraft. The PIESAT Robot Technology Co in the Nantong Economic and Technological Development Area (NETDA) specializes in the R&D of unmanned aircraft, and its annual production capacity is currently at about 1,000 unmanned aircraft.

The applications of aircraft in the city stem from diversified consumer demands and span across general aviation manufacturing, logistics, tourism, and agriculture.

During the May Day holiday this year, Qidong, a county-level city under the jurisdiction of Nantong, launched its first sightseeing aircraft tour route in Jianghai Lanwan Resort, which connects all the scenic spots in the resort.
