The groundbreaking ceremony of the advanced manufacturing base funded by Swiss-based TE Connectivity was held in the Chongchuan Economic Development Zone in Nantong, Jiangsu province, on Oct 29.

The facility, which will cost $150 million to build, is expected to begin operating in 2025, and will play a significant role in boosting the electric and intelligent transformation of China's automobile industry.

Sun Xiaoguang, general manager of TE Automotive Division China, said that the district boasts unique logistical advantages, high-quality talent reserves and educational resources, and enormous potential and opportunities for industrial aggregation.

Sun added that establishing a presence in the district signifies that TE will better integrate into the development of the Yangtze River Delta region, enhance its manufacturing capabilities, meet the demands of the rapidly growing Chinese automotive market and customers, and further empower the Chinese automotive industry.
