On Oct 24, a high-quality development-themed summit marking the 20th anniversary of the Yangkou Port took place in Nanjing, Jiangsu province. The summit focused on how to harness the unique characteristics of the Yangkou Port for its continued success in the evolving economic landscape.
Xu Changxin, a professor of the Business School at Hohai University, noted that over the past two decades, new materials, new energy, and equipment manufacturing have become the Yangkou Port's major industries and showcase a positive growth momentum.
Fu Shaohua, general manager of the Shanghai Petroleum and Natural Gas Exchange, emphasized the unparalleled advantages of the Yangkou Port during the summit. First, it enjoys a significant resource advantage, poised to handle over 20 million metric tons of liquefied natural gas (LNG) annually. Second, the port boasts a strategic location within the core region of the Yangtze River Delta, providing access to a vast LNG consumption market. Third, the abundance of nearby gas storage facilities positions Yangkou Port as a potential international energy hub.
Jiang Biwang, president of Suzhou NanoMicro Technology Co Ltd, highlighted the collaborative efforts between the company and Yangkou Port in establishing the Rudong Yangkou Chemical Industry Park, which is one of three pilot testing bases approved by the Jiangsu provincial government. In the future, the park is set to be an international platform for high-level cooperation in research and development.
