Wang Family's Baochi pills are made according to the secret prescription of the Wang Family in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, developed during the reign of emperor Daoguang (1821-50) in the Qing Dynasty.

The medicine is used to treat gastrointestinal diseases including weakness of the spleen and the stomach, dyspepsia, diarrhea, and constipation and is suitable for children, the aged, and pregnant women.

As the medicine is especially effective for children's gastrointestinal diseases and respiratory tract inflammation, it is made into small pills shaped as rapeseeds with a shiny and pearl-like luster to make it easier for children to eat.
