Chongchuan makes strides in high-quality development

Chongchuan district in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, has been making efforts to achieve high-quality development while maintaining stability in recent years.

In 2022, the district achieved a GDP of 167.69 billion yuan ($22.82 billion). In the comprehensive city-wide assessment of high-quality development for 2022, Chongchuan secured the top rating.

During the first half of this year, the GDP of Chongchuan reached 89.16 billion yuan, an increase of 7.1 percent year-on-year.

The district's urban appeal continued to strengthen in the first six months of this year, attracting renowned global corporations such as beauty giant L'Oreal and internationally-recognized accounting firm KPMG.

The district has also been consistently enhancing its business-friendly environment, offering end-to-end policy-integrated services from business establishment to development. In the first half of the year, the district saw the opening of 6,266 new businesses, maintaining its position as the city's leader in this regard.

Furthermore, once businesses are established, ongoing support remains unwavering. Chongchuan has introduced an array of policies, including 20 related to innovation and technological finance, providing industrial funds totaling 238 million yuan to 12 companies. Eight enterprises received equity investments exceeding 1 billion yuan.

In addition to these efforts, Chongchuan continues to improve the living environment. The district is currently home to nearly 2,200 hectares of urban green space, with a forest coverage rate of 27 percent. It ranks first in the province in terms of per capita park and green space area, and the transformation of 112 old residential communities covering 6.5 million square meters has been completed.

Due to these efforts, Chongchuan's growing appeal has led to a significant increase in net population inflow. In 2022, the district's permanent population reached 1.22 million, a net increase of over 40,000 people compared to that of November in 2020.
