The commencement ceremony for a series of key industrial projects that will start construction in the third quarter of this year took place on Aug 1 in Dayu town in Rudong county, Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province.

The 22 key industrial projects are related to new energy, new materials and new equipment and have a total investment of 13.37 billion yuan. Six of the projects are worth over 500 million yuan ($69.61 million) each.

Among them is a facility invested by Jiangsu Haibao Resources Recycling Technology Co Ltd, which will cover an area of 298.4 mu (19.89 hectares).

The project will specialize in producing high-quality refined lead, tin, acid and alloy lead by utilizing retired batteries.

The project is expected to produce 680,000 metric tons of refined lead and its corresponding byproducts annually, while its annual taxable turnover is estimated to reach 5 billion yuan.
