A Bahamian large liquefied natural gas (LNG) vessel carrying more than 60,000 metric tons of LNG docked at the Guanghui Energy LNG distribution and transfer station of the Lyusi Port Area in Qidong, Nantong, Jiangsu province on June 18.

It was the first large LNG transport ship to dock in the city this summer.

According to the calculation that 1 cubic meter of LNG can be vaporized into 625 cu m of natural gas, this voyage can transport nearly 100 million cu m of natural gas, enough to meet the electricity needs of more than 6 million ordinary households for one month during peak summer in East China.

LNG needs to be cooled to about -163C during transportation. In order to ensure the safety of substances like LNG during transportation, the Nantong maritime bureau has been securing waterways, thoroughly preparing for severe weather, and stabilizing the supply chain.
