A Singaporean liquefied natural gas (LNG) vessel named Seridaya arrived at Yangkou Port in Nantong, Jiangsu province on June 7, becoming the 30th LNG vessel to dock at the port.

This vessel delivered approximately 70,000 metric tons of LNG, which can be converted into roughly 97 million cubic meters of natural gas, enough to supply residents in the Yangtze River Delta region for 2.5 days.

LNG transportation is considered highly dangerous due to the liquid's low-temperature, flammability and rapid state-changing properties.

For this reason, the Nantong maritime authority provides the highest level of services to ensure the safe transportation of every LNG vessel. They prioritize LNG vessels' entry and exit at ports and coordinate with pilot ships and tugboats to clear any obstacles in advance.

To ensure the safe docking of vessels, Yangkou Port staff inspect tugboats and remind ship-owners to continuously monitor the tide, water current and wind direction, as well as check the tension of the ships' mooring ropes.

Yangkou Port is expected to receive an increased amount of LNG over the summer, when demand is higher. The local maritime administration pledges to take every action necessary to keep the energy supply running steadily.
