A total of 53 companies from Qidong, a county-level city of Nantong in East China's Jiangsu province, received nearly 100 million yuan ($14.39 million) in intended transactions at the 133rd China Import and Export Fair, or Canton Fair, which concluded on May 5.

With 68.5 booths, these companies' exhibits mainly involved electric tools, food, luggage, electronics and new energy products.

The electric tool industry is a major industry in Qidong. During the fair, exhibition booths related to the industry attracted nearly 10,000 professional domestic and foreign visitors, including nearly 1,000 professional buyers from more than 10 countries and regions.

Over more than a decade of participation in Canton Fair, the city has established a reputation as the "China Electric Tool Industry Base" and "Jiangsu Electric Tool Export Base".

The city's plush toy companies also saw outstanding performance at the Canton Fair. Qidong Yijie Crafts Import and Export Co Ltd secured $650,000 and $900,000 in orders, respectively, on April 24 and 26, attracting the attention of many foreign merchants.
