Space-themed resort to open in Rudong
The Happy Planet, a hot-spring resort in Rudong, a county-level city in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, will partially open at the end of May, local media reported.
The resort, which has a total investment of 2 billion yuan ($289.35 million) and covers an area of 700 mu (46.67 hectares), is the only one themed on space in the Yangtze River Delta region.
Cao Jian, who is in charge of the resort, said that the open part will include a 2,500-square-meter aerospace exhibition hall, which features both static models and interactive experiences, as well as displays of space-grown food.
The exhibition will give visitors a wondrous sense of being in space, Cao added.
In addition, a pet park, a children's park, and a waterpark will open at the resort.
According to Cao, many facilities, such as motorboats, sailboats, powered sampan and pulling boats, will be available in the waterpark.
Organizers will also hold a food festival and other activities, allowing visitors to taste various cuisines from all over the country during the park's partial opening.
From July to October, seven uniquely designed guesthouses in the resort will gradually open, and 58 hot springs will start operating at the end of this year.
