Craftsmen in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, celebrated the Chinese New Year, or the Year of the Rabbit, with their handiworks.

Hu Zhi, an inheritor of the Nantong banyao kite making techniques, created seven rabbit-themed banyao kites. The kite features different rabbits representing different best wishes such as happiness and a good fortune.

Banyao kites are large and flat whistling kites with hexagonal frames adorned with exquisite decorations and vibrant colors. They are unique in that they make a melodious sound when high up in the sky. In 2006, banyao kite making techniques in Nantong were listed as a national intangible cultural heritage item.
