Construction of $230 million project commences in Hai'an
Yijin Optical Tech Co Ltd held a commencement ceremony for its new factory that will produce optical filters and modules in the High-tech zone of Hai'an, a county-level city in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, on Dec 26.
The $230 million factory will become the largest production base for optical filters and modules in the world and improve the county's industrial chain for new materials.
The annual turnover of the facility is expected to be more than two billion yuan ($286.89 million).
Located in an industrial park filled with Taiwan companies, the first phase of the project is expected to start production within eight months.
Local authorities have in recent years taken concerted efforts to boost industrial development. For example, they have sent representatives to Zhangzhou, East China's Fujian province, and Dongguan, South China's Guangdong province, to attract more investment.
In addition, the authorities have held several investment promotions by teaming up with Taiwan business associations in Suzhou.
This year, the zone introduced 16 Taiwan-funded projects related to production, service, and catering.
