More than 40 artists from literature and art associations in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, visited Qidong on Oct 14 to seek inspiration.

They visited the reconstructed Tonghai Kenmu Co Ltd to review the life of patriotic Zhang Jian (1853-1926), a renowned industrial magnate, educator, and scholar in Nantong.

Following a pingtan (a singing and storytelling routine that dates back 400 years) performance at the Qidong Culture Center, the artists visited the China (Qidong) Woodblock Painting Center for a photo exhibition on the remarkable changes Qidong has undergone over the past decade.

Organized by the Nantong Federation of Literary and Art Circles, the activity gives local artists the chance to experience the beauty of Nantong's nature, culture, and development and encourages them to celebrate the city's transformation through words, songs, and photos.

So far this year, local artists have visited Rugao, Hai'an and Rudong.
