The modern service industry in Rudong, a county in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, experienced rapid development this year, local media reported recently.

In the first six months of the year, taxable sales in the service industry in Rudong were valued at 64.65 billion yuan ($9.29 billion) and the county became home to another 55 enterprises in the service industry above designated size.

Rudong-based Nantong Fuyihe E-commerce Co Ltd is one such enterprise. It got involved in livestreaming in May and has carried out more than 100 livestreams to promote local farm produce.

The development of the e-commerce industry would not be possible without an efficient logistics system. Last year, Rudong established a county-level express distribution center – Maoning Express Industrial Park – which gathers the outlets of seven courier service companies, including ZTO Express, YTO Express, and Yunda Express.

The industrial park currently handles nearly 170,000 parcels per day, according to Sun Mao, general manager of Jiangsu Maoning Technology Industry Development Co Ltd, which operates the industrial park.

Sun noted that this year, the company has invested more than 10 million yuan in the purchase of automatic sorting equipment, which will be put into use by the end of September.

Major service industry projects in Rudong, such as Dinou Tianhaidao Hotspring Town, are also currently under construction.
