Chongchuan district in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, has made sustained efforts to improve people's livelihoods in recent years.

In 2020, the district initiated the rebuilding of Renganglu village, the first project to reconstruct the old residential community in Jiangsu province.

During reconstruction, Chongchuan provided transitional houses for its original residents. The transitional houses were put into use in January 2021 and can accommodate 400 families.

Aside from the necessary facilities, volunteer services including medical treatment, equipment maintenance, and haircuts were also provided.

To increase residents' recreational options, Chongchuan invested 250 million yuan ($38.99 million) in 2021 to upgrade Tangzha Ancient Town, a landmark of Nantong.

In addition, Chongchuan has been providing diversified old-age care for the ever increasing elderly population. Seniors in the district can choose to enjoy services at home, in residential communities or at professional institutions.

A nursing home in the district has been rated as a five-star senior care service institution in Nantong.
