Seven bookstores in rural areas of Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, recently won municipal recognition, Nantong Daily reported.

Nantong is currently home to more than 1,500 bookstores with a publication operation license, ranking first in Jiangsu.

In response to the national call for rural revitalization and to shore up the confidence of the publishing industry, the Nantong Publication and Distribution Industry Association organized this selection event.

Here are some of the listed bookstores:

Tongdian Academy Nantong Co Ltd manages a 1,400-square meter bookstore housing more than 10,000 kinds of books. In addition to offering a comfortable reading space, Tongdian has been organizing various activities to help local residents develop reading habits.

The Changjiang bookstore of the Phoenix Xinhua Bookstore in Rugao is located in Changjiang town. The bookstore features agricultural books and promotes scientific and technological information to improve the cultural quality of local farmers.

The Chahe bookstore of the Phoenix Xinhua Bookstore in Rudong serves residents of Chahe and Xindian towns and distributes agricultural books to local farmers free of charge.

Hongwen Boostore in Lyusigang town has forged close relations with local educational institutions, residential communities, and labor unions to organize regular book readings, promotions, and donation activities.
