Hai'an, a county-level city administered by Nantong in East China's Jiangsu province, was recently listed by provincial authorities as the demonstration area for the high-quality development of the manufacturing industry in Jiangsu.

In 2021, the GDP and industrial taxable sales in Hai'an reached 134.3 billion yuan ($19.92) and 237 billion yuan, respectively. The added value of the manufacturing industry in the city accounted for nearly 45 percent of its GDP that same year.

Earlier this year, the city proposed the construction of a distinctive, independent, and controllable modern industrial system, and aims to become part of the first group of demonstration areas for the high-quality development of the manufacturing industry in Jiangsu.

Hai'an has been persistent in pursuing innovative development by improving industrial capacity, upgrading manufacturing enterprises, and constructing innovation platforms for the said enterprises.

The city has also continued streamlining administrative services and reducing taxes for local enterprises to create a more favorable business environment.
