Nantong registers 1.6% GDP rise in H1

The GDP of Nantong in East China's Jiangsu province registered a year-on-year increase of 1.6 percent in the first half of 2022 to 566.36 billion yuan ($83.70 billion), according to local authorities.

The added value of the city's primary, secondary and tertiary industries totaled 19.72 billion yuan, 285.03 billion yuan and 261.61 billion yuan in the first six months, up by 5.1 percent, 1.9 percent, and 0.9 percent respectively.

The added value of the industries above a designated scale in Nantong grew by 2.8 percent year-on-year while the retail sales of consumer goods in the city declined 2.9 percent year-on-year during the same period.

Nantong saw its foreign trade grow 11.3 percent year-on-year in the Jan-June period, reaching 167.4 billion yuan.

Exports climbed 8.6 percent year-on-year to 109.5 billion yuan while the imports jumped 16.8 percent year-on-year to 57.9 billion yuan.

The per capita disposal income of Nantong's residents totaled 25,595 yuan during the same period, a 4.9 percent year-on-year increase. The figures for urban and rural residents in the city reached 31,337 yuan and 15,774 yuan respectively, year-on-year increases of 4.1 percent and 5.8 percent.
