Nantong Urban Agricultural Park – located in Chongchuan district, the main urban area of Nantong city in East China's Jiangsu province – recently had a unique picture created in one of its rice fields.
The picture was created by Zhao Xiangqiang, who holds a doctorate in agronomy and is associate professor at the School of Life Sciences of Nantong University.
The picture, consisting of painted rice, depicts Wang Lan, a character in the movie Shangganling, singing a classic Chinese song called My Motherland.
The picture also features the Chinese words "Rural Vitalization" and "Celebrate the 20th CPC National Congress" and the CPC emblem and pictures of granaries.
Zhao Xiangqiang, who studied rice in saline-alkali soil for many years, tried out so-called rice field paintings for the first time in 2018.

The new work, which took a week to complete, was made by Zhao and villagers in the Xingfu sub-district of Chongchuan.
Zhao said it was created for the 20th CPC National Congress, which will be held in Beijing in the second half of the year.
