The foundation stone laying ceremony for the new Hanvo Safety Industrial Park was held on June 18 at the Rudong Economic Development Zone in Rudong county – administered by Nantong city in East China's Jiangsu province – in a development expected to contribute to the emergence of a high-end security and protection industry cluster in the region.
Costing 1.76 billion yuan ($262.7 million), the park will be constructed in two phases. It is being funded by Jiangsu Hanvo Safety Product Co Ltd – part of the Hanvo Group, a leading global safety gloves manufacturer in China with a business footprint in more than 50 countries.
The first phase, to cost 700 million yuan, will focus on building high-speed intelligent automatic production lines for industrial safety gloves, with a capacity of making 72 million dozen pairs of gloves annually. The second phase will lay focus on personal protective equipment, involving a total investment of 1.06 billion yuan.
Plans are for the park to be built and operated in an eco-friendly and intelligent way.
Chen Lei, head of Rudong county, said in an address to the ceremony that Jiangsu Hanvo Safety Product Co Ltd – as a domestic leader in the safety protection sector and a representative of Rudong's outstanding enterprises – had started a new development chapter, after listing on the ChiNext market in March last year as the foundations of the industrial park were being laid.
Chen added that the Rudong government would provide attentive and efficient services for the company in the construction of the industrial park.
