Logistics supply chains are said to be of fundamental importance to economic and social development, but since the start of the year – hit by the COVID-19 pandemic – road transport in China has been restricted from time to time.

As a vital traffic hub in the Yangtze River Delta region, Hai'an – a county-level city administered by Nantong in East China's Jiangsu province – is said to currently be paying equal attention to epidemic prevention and control and to ensuring its transport system is in tip-top health.

The Hai'an railway logistics base is understood to be striving to ensure the delivery and arrival of goods. It also focuses on achieving normal operations for sea-rail express trains and cross-border freight trains – serving the development of the export-oriented economy in Hai'an and to surrounding areas.

Nantong Jiahui Oil Development Co Ltd, based in Hai'an, is a leader in Jiangsu's agricultural industrialization sector, with its products being sold nationwide.

"At present, we are facing the difficulty that raw materials can't get in and our products can't be shipped out to be sold," said general manager He Ruixiang.

Jiahui's products used to be transported by road, but hit by the Shanghai outbreak road transportation became restricted. To ensure its smooth production and operations, the firm started moving its cargo by rail.

"With safe and timely services from the Hai'an logistics base, the supply of raw materials we need is guaranteed," He added.

In the face of the current epidemic, the Hai'an logistics base is understood to have taken effective action.

To ensure all goods stay on the move, it learned in advance all it could about the epidemic situation, anti-epidemic measures, traffic controls and other information related to the location of goods supplies.

To top it off, it also customized different transport processes for different firms, making sure everything would go smoothly.
