Located by the Yellow Sea, the waters off Lyusigang town – under the jurisdiction of the county-level city of Qidong in East China's Jiangsu province – are rich in pomfret and yellow croaker fish, octopus, crabs, jellyfish and other seafood.

The Lyusi fishing port there was approved as a national first-class civil fishing port in 1992, and in 2002, it got the green light to be turned into one of the six State-level central fishing ports in China.

In 2012, its expansion was included in the provincial and national fishing port construction plans during the 12th Five-Year Plan period (2011-15).

The expansion project, also known as the new fishing port, received investment valued at 10 billion yuan ($1.58 billion) and it was completed and opened in August 2019.

Equipped with functions for berthing, loading and unloading and supplies, it is currently the country's largest comprehensive man-made fishing port with the most complete support facilities.
