Qidong's construction industry goes on robust development
The construction industry gross output value of Qidong – a county-level city administered by Nantong in East China's Jiangsu province – exceeded 140 billion yuan ($22.16 billion) in 2021, up 8 percent year-on-year.
The value of newly signed contracts last year reached 84.4 billion yuan, of which the value of those signed with overseas markets topped 1.8 billion yuan.
Over the past year, Qidong's construction sector influence was further expanded. The Qidong Cultural Sports Center last year won the Luban Prize, a top construction and engineering quality award in China. It is the first Luban Prize-winning project in Qidong, making the number of Luban Prize that Qidong firms won reach 44. The center was built by Qidong-based Jiangsu Nantong No 2 Construction Engineering (Group) Co Ltd (NT2J).

Qidong constructors also paid attention to creativity. NT2J launched an intelligent construction site management platform which integrates a geographic information system and the tool of building information modeling. The platform was recognized as a model case of intelligent construction by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development.
Qidong building companies strive to stimulate new growth drivers through transformation and upgrading. The modern construction industry base, invested and operated by Qidong Construction Group, mainly produces prefabricated building components. After more than two years of development, the base has achieved stable market share, with an annual output value of 190 million.
